Tonight, six CEVO-P teams will get a jump start on week 3.1, one day ahead of the Thursday default time. Don't worry. We won't leave you out in the dark. Come on in and enjoy part one of our week 3.1 predictions.
After four matches, only two teams remain undefeated - the LA compLexity and the Dallas Venom. We won't see either of these two teams in action tonight, but be sure to return for part two of our predictions tomorrow.
But for now, we have the fan favorite Zomblerz going up against a struggling Hyper team. And you can't talk about struggling without mentioning the '94 Knicks who will take on the Carolina Core. Lastly, the Chicago Chimera face off against the New York 3D, in hopes of gaining some ground in the standings.
Read on for my CEVO-P week 3.1 part one predictions.
With a 3-1 record going into week 3, the Zomblerz are staying on pace with the many of the CGS teams with a 4th place record. Unlike their previous two matches, the Zomblerz appeared to struggle a bit in their last match against the '94 Knicks. The team narrowly edged by the Knicks in the final rounds due in large part to a victorious deagle-save round.
But a win is a win and the 3-1 Zomblerz are in a great position.
The same can't be said for Hyper. Their only win came against Devastation in a match where the second half was played days later due to lag-out issues. Though as I said before, a win is a win no matter how it happens. That one win still places Hyper near the middle of the standings and after only two weeks of play, there is still plenty of time for redemption.
However, I don't think tonight will be Hyper's turning point. Though I'm not at all familiar with the Zomblerz play style on Russka, they should take it with a few rounds to spare.
sapphiRe's prediction: Zomblerz > Hyper 13-8
It seems like the '94 Knicks might have some life in them after all!
Okay...so they're 0-4 and that puts them in second to last place. But after a very good showing against the Zomblerz, my faith in this team is slowly being restored. The Knicks were that close to pulling off a win.
Before the season, I was rather unsure of how the Carolina Core would perform. At a point, I found myself often questioning their commitment and determination. However, my pre-season hesitations were resolved this past Sunday as the Core defeated 3D. While the final match score (13-11) was extremely close, the Core played a stellar CT half on Season, generally considered one of 3D's best maps.
I very much want the Knicks to succeed this season...but again, I don't think it will start tonight against the powerful Carolina Core. But for the Knicks sake, they absolutely need to prove me wrong tonight. They are nearing their must-win point of the season and we're only into the third week. But with a large group of talented teams infront of them, the Knicks have plenty of catching up to do and it needs to start now.
sapphiRe's prediction: Carolina Core > '94 Knicks 13-10
I realize I haven't been the Chicago Chimera's favorite predictor this season. I've been fairly blunt in my Chimera predictions, making it well known that I've felt they've lagged behind the other CGS teams as of late.
But somewhat to my surprise, they pulled off a huge win last match against x3o. An unnamed Chicago player didn't waste any time in pointing out the victory to me. Well, I want to assure that particular player their win was mentally noted and I have a newfound hope in the Chimera
Nonetheless, this will be a tough match-up. 3D recently dropped a close match to the Core which came as a bit of a surprise, but are still a powerhouse team that will almost always put up a good fight.
This is the first time both of these teams will be playing an official match on Russka with their "new" rosters, so there are no previous outcomes to base a prediction off of, nor am I aware of how either team performs on the map.
For the first time this season, I'm predicting a match to go into overtime...with 3D eventually prevailing as the victors.
sapphiRe's prediction: New York 3D > Chicago Chimera 13-12 (overtime)
