How They Got Here

Cyber Revolution (formerly known as FEVER) joined the placement tournament as the 9th place finisher in CEVO-P Season 6. Looking at the team's past results, they have notable wins over top teams such as Devastation, '94 Knicks and x3o.

Moving along to the PT, Cyber Rev still seemed to be considered an average team at best, but they had a fairly easy path to CEVO-P. They went 2-1, but didn't play a single team higher than the seventh seed. That match came in the first round against justBALLS, and Cyber Rev lost 11-13 before beating the fifteenth and ninth seeds later in the tournament to advance to CEVO-P.

In other words, besides two matches against coL (which, predictably, didn't turn out so well for them) I have yet to see this team face a real challenge that was a true test of their skill.

They also had some roster moves, recently. They lost ridic to zomblerz, but in his place they made two huge roster additions this past week that should have a positive impact. Chewbacca and DaZeD of Skull Gaming, a team which fell unexpectedly short of advancing to CEVO-P, have come on board with Cyber Rev. Chewbacca will be filling in as the strat caller, while DaZeD has replaced drAgon in the lineup.

Looking Ahead

This is one of the more difficult teams for me to predict. Putting Cyber Rev at 13th seems too low for what they are capable of and Chewbacca and DaZeD were great additions to a roster that already had experience in CEVO-P.

However, I'm always cautious when a team makes late roster changes, and that goes double when they're replacing a strat-caller. It just takes time for a team to mesh (See: OPTX, CGS Season, matches 1 through 10) which makes me think that the beginning of Cyber Rev's season will be slow and filled with a handful of L's.

That being said, I wouldn't be shocked if the team finished around the 9th-12th place bracket with a late-season surge, overtaking the likes of Hyper and Dynamic. They've got the talent, it's just a matter of time. If they can avoid those early-season blues, it's definitely within their grasp.

(And as a note to potential viewers, I suggest you spend some time watching DaZeD (who tags up as Simo Hayha) on SourceTV this season. He was a frequent visitor to the top of the scoreboard throughout the PT.)
